For every pair of underpants that Spijk (20) sells in the Netherlands, he gives one away in Tanzania. That goes so well that Spijk now wants to expand to other countries in Africa. In Kenya, Rwanda and Nigeria he sees opportunities to donate underpants.
Spijk runs his company together with his friend Thom. On a school trip in Tanzania, they saw that parents would rather buy T-shirts than underwear for their children. Once home, they decided to address the lack of underwear.
They share the proceeds of the start-up with a woman in Tanzania. She then turns them into underpants that are donated in the region. There were around five hundred last year.
