British ambassador to the United States Kim Darroch announced his resignation on Wednesday after the controversy with the US president following the publication in the press of leaks of diplomatic memos unflattering towards Donald Trump.
“Since the leak of official documents from this embassy, there has been a lot of speculation about my post and the length of my term as ambassador, I want to put an end to this speculation, the current situation prevents me from fulfilling my role as I would like, “he said in a letter to Simon McDonald, head of British diplomatic services.
The wacky Ambassador that the U.K. foisted upon the United States is not someone we are thrilled with, a very stupid guy. He should speak to his country, and Prime Minister May, about their failed Brexit negotiation, and not be upset with my criticism of how badly it was …

After the leaks in the press, Donald Trump had assured that he would no longer have “no contact” with Kim Darroch. “Under these circumstances, the responsible way to go is to allow the appointment of a new ambassador,” wrote the diplomat.
Outgoing Conservative Prime Minister Theresa May, who received the wrath of Donald Trump after supporting Kim Darroch, lamented the diplomat's decision.
“It is very unfortunate that he thought it necessary to leave his post as ambassador to Washington,” she said Wednesday during the weekly session of questions to Parliament.
“Good government depends on officials being able to give full and honest advice, and I want all our officials to have the confidence to do so,” she said.
Trump “Unstable” and “incompetent”
“I too regret the resignation of Kim Darroch,” said Jeremy Corbyn, leader of the Labor opposition, calling on Parliament to unite behind him. “I think he has done an honorable and good service, which he has to thank.”
But former British chief of diplomacy Boris Johnson, who won the race to replace Theresa May, shunned him for support in a televised debate Tuesday night against his rival Foreign Minister Jeremy Hunt .
London opened an investigation into who was responsible for the publication by the Mail on Sunday of confidential reports sent by Kim Darroch, in which he described the White House tenant as “unstable” and “incompetent”.
The long-time diplomat also described the US administration as “unique in its dysfunction”.
